First in the fox: Owners of small businesses of America feel a change of 180 degrees by promoting the economy, and are generally optimistic about the tariff tariffs and efforts of the Government Efficiency Department (Doge), according to a new study.
The first Index of RedBalloon’s Freedom Economy and Publicsquare (FEI) of 2025 – performed between February 25 and March 7 – collected the feeling of more than 50,000 owners in 34 countries. She found that 68% of respondents predict either “slow” or “strong” economic growth throughout the year.
When compared to the last survey published in October, nearly six in 10 small businesses owners said they believed the US was headed to the recession.

The transition to the recession concerns came after the election, according to FEI, with 80% saying their opinion has improved “too much” or “somewhat” after President Donald Trump won his second term. Only 6.6% say their opinion has become more negative about the economy.
Not only nearly one -third of business owners are preparing to expand their employment this year, but they are also seemingly greedy by the tariff debate. However, inflation concerns still last.
When asked what are their first three concerns over the next six months, nearly 70% said inflation, followed by taxes and regulations. Fees are ranked as fewer than their concerns, at 16.9%.
Three voters who are also looking for work spoke to the Fox News Digital how their financial situation has worsened over the past four years and its impact on their voting decision.
Six in 10 small businesses owners reported that high inflation continues to be a problem. In the October survey, nearly 88% said high inflation was still a factor.
Past FEI surveys have shown that owners blame the expenses of the fugitive government for the high inflation of decades, once seen under the administration of Biden. This is reported to make them excited about Doge’s efforts to shorten excessive expenses.

The top priority of the owners of small businesses in President Trump’s first 100 days is to finish the costs of vain and shorten the government size, with 78.4% of respondents ranking it in place number 1.

Almost 50% of the survey recipients say they are “extremely safe” that Doge Elon Musk Mayor will be successful in his mission to reduce spending waste, with only 2.8% saying they are “not safe”.
When you evaluate what should be the best targets of the DOGE agency, 33.7% of owners want Musk to clean the house in the treasury and internal income service. The Departments of Human Health and Services, education and justice came to the second, third and fourth countries, respectively, depending on about 15%.
Most front-line businesses-76.7%also think that attacks against DOGE to enter data and potentially sensitive information at the federal level are “false anger” from those who oppose Trump’s presidency.
