- Transport delays for weeks have been traced to the USPS classification facility on the eastern side of Indianapolis.
- Individuals have not received critical documents and medicines; Small businesses face loss of profits.
For more than a decade, Tiffany Thompson, co -founder of a business candle business of Soya Parke, is based on the United States postal service for transporting customer orders.
But since November, Thompson and her friend Sarah Monik who has had to apologize repeatedly to customers as long as they are receiving their orders to arrive.
The candle company has been one of the many postal service users affected by what the trade union leaders say is chaos and disorganization in the wake of the postal service that closes its place near Indianapolis International Airport and switching to a larger structure in the east side.
The delays seem to have worsened in recent weeks, leading Indiana lawmakers at Washington DC to write Louis Dejoy postmaster for “serious concerns” regarding mail deliveries and packages in the state. Nine US representatives and both senators signed the February 13 letter seeking to explain the problem and the possible solution.
“These delays have had real consequences for individuals and businesses alike. Ingredients have reported late medication deliveries, critical financial documents and essential business consignments,” rep. Jefferson Shreve on paper, which he posted on X.

Hundreds of people across Indiana and Midwest have taken on social media to express disappointment with packages sitting for weeks in Facility Indianapolis. Occasionally, lost packages lost somewhere in the mail system.
Small business owners have provided customers on social media and have tried to explain the source of delays – a step that some say that the postal service has done little to accept themselves.
Almost all Crow Hollow orders go through the USPS, and in the past month, Thompson said at least four of the company’s sent packages landed at the ranking facility for more than 20 days without moving.
Crow Hollow sells products online and through wholesale orders, which means that massive delays on shipments can be harmful to the latest business line.
“If we have to give refunds to all these people, then we are money and product because we don’t have the product again and they didn’t get the product,” Monik said.
The postal service has said little about the delays. The USPS responded to an indentadic investigation with a general response to customers who undergo delays. The media spokesman did not respond to a following email. However, some restless customers say they have heard of the issues of local mail workers in Indianapolis.
“The post office has not come to say,” We are aware “because they directly say to me,” we are aware that there is a matter there “but they have not come out and told this to the public,” said Grant Gilman, A united state owner of Indiana, a T-shirt business in Meridian-Kessler. About 80% of its sales come from online orders.
USPS congestion:Holiday mail strikes traffic around USPS distribution center
The Indianapolis chapter of the American Postal Workers Union says that poor time, bad management and lack of staff in the regional ranking facility have all contributed to the problem. APWU represents about 1,800 USPS employees, including clerks, machinery operators and postal separators.
The USPS opened the regional processing and distribution in November, immediately before the peak season of the point that goes from thanksgiving in the New Year, said Steve Vaughn, the trusted chief for the Indianapolis Union. The postal service slowly transported operations from its ranking facility at Indianapolis International Airport, but poor staff levels slowed the transition.
Backward removal over the past four months has burned long employees, many of whom are working seven days a week while packages are collected.
“Our employees are stressed and ready to break. There is a terrible management and they are blaming workers,” Vaughn said.
The Union said the former building near Indianapolis International Airport has been reopened to capture massive delays. The USPS spokesman did not confirm this.
As people post fewer letters today than it used to be, post office workers are seeing more packages and “now we are overloaded,” Vaughn said.

Without ending, business owners are looking for alternatives.
Crow Hollow recently used UPS, which is usually more expensive than USPS, instead of a delivery. But the Thompson and Monik owners say you will need a permanent solution if problems in the USPS are not resolved.
“By the end of this month, if [customers] I didn’t get the money, I would think they will start fully asking for their money because they didn’t get the product, “Thompson said.” So I think that no later than March 1, we’re going to have to come up with some kind of result for them. “
In the United States, Gilman said delays have slowly begun to sit for his clients. But he started a reddit thread in the delays in November, when he first noticed signs of slow shipments. He said he is still receiving announcements about the activity in that single thread – a sign that he can be more lucky than others using the postal service for the deliveries.
“I understand if they are opening a new thing or whatever else, you’ll have some issues, but you would think they would be good enough at it at this point,” Gilman said.
